PADHC was established in 1934, and today remains one of the leading Hockey Clubs in South Australia on and off the field. A detailed book on the history of the club through to 1999 was published by Don Germein and Dennins Meredith.

The history of the club was added to further in 2012 with PADHC becoming the first and only club to win the top 4 grades, along with other preimerships in that year.
